91 - 99 City Road, Cardiff

Originally constructed in the 1950’s as Cardiff’s premier car garage, the premises were latterly converted into a retail unit. With the recent development of City road into one of Cardiff’s primary food and drink districts, the practice has been commissioned to refurbish 91-99 City Road to create over 1000m² of restaurant and function room accommodation. The existing concrete frame building provided a roof top car park that has been incorporated into the design of the restaurant. A lift connects the three floors, allowing guests to park safely and enter the building from above. Insertion of a large roof light over the function room and re-cladding of the facade provides modern premises within the constraints of the existing structure.
