North Cardiff Medical Center

Commissioned by the practice to replace their 1992 Surgery destroyed by fire in arson attack in August 2007, the new three storey building provides 1380m2 of accommodation on same 1500m2 site. Entering the Reception/Waiting area through a double height atrium, patients have access to two floors of Medical Rooms with waiting areas on each level and a Pharmacy on the ground floor. Staff facilities and the Occupational Health suite are on the top floor. North Cardiff Medical Centre is an example of the new breed of sustainable developments promoted by Welsh Assembly Government which provide a range of health services in a modern energy-efficient environment. Constructed in 9 months on a Design & Build Contract, the building opened less than 3 years from the loss of the original surgery, during which time the doctors occupied a temporary surgery nearby. With six partners and over 14,000 patients, North Cardiff Medical Centre is a significant contribution to the delivery of first class Primary Health Care in Wales.
